Brexit…or…Break Sit ?

Qui l’eut cru ! Non, ce n’est pas de l’humour anglais. Les Britanniques ont bien dit un grand OUI au Brexit. Les marchés financiers, les instituts de sondage se sont bien plantés (le Non était donné largement gagnant). La réalité du terrain a été autre.

Londres, le cœur financier et économique du Royaume-Uni a voté largement pour le maintien dans l’UE, contrairement à la province anglaise, province conservatrice, souffrante de la pauvreté et inquiète face à l’immigration. Même topo pour le Pays de Galles et Cardiff. Pour faire simple, les « riches et instruits » de la capitale ont voté « pour » le maintien de l’UE et les « pauvres et incultes » de la province, « contre ». Pour les autres nations ou région, l’Ecosse, l’Irlande du Nord et Gibraltar (enclave britannique  en Espagne) , le maintien dans l’UE fut plébiscité.

Comment on en est arrivé là ?

Le Royaume-Uni a toujours eu un pied en dehors de l’UE : il a conservé sa monnaie déjà, non ?

La campagne a aussi été menée de façon agressive par les partisans du NON, appuyée par les médias et tabloïds, campagne durant laquelle il s’est raconté tout et n’importe quoi…signe d’un système politique à bout de souffle…

N’y avait-il pas eu aussi, il y a plus de 10 ans, le « Frexit »  ?…souvenez-vous du large rejet des Français par référendum pour le traité constitutionnel européen, traité qui fut quand même ratifié en 2007 par Nicolas Sarkozy ! Ceci a marqué véritablement un point de fracture entre élite et peuple et n’a fait qu’aggraver la montée du rejet européen.

Une Europe construite en dépit du bon sens…a aussi contribué au Brexit. Les technocrates européens ont récolté ce qu’ils ont semé.

Brexit on dit, je dirai « Break Sit » pour être porteur d’espoir. L’Europe doit faire une pause (Break) et s’asseoir (Sit) et réfléchir sur ce qu’elle doit être…

Who would’ve believed that ! No, it is not of English humor. The British did say a big YES to Brexit. Financial markets, pollsters were well planted (it was not given widely winner). The reality on the ground was different.
London, the financial and economic heart of the UK voted largely for the maintenance in the EU, unlike the English province, conservative province, suffering from poverty and anxious to immigration. Same story for Wales and Cardiff. Basically, the « rich and educated » of the capital voted « for » the continuation of the EU and the « poor and uneducated » of the province, « against. » For other nations or regions, Scotland, Northern Ireland and Gibraltar (British enclave in Spain), maintaining the EU was acclaimed.
How did we get here?
The UK has always had one foot outside the EU: it has kept its currency already, right?
The campaign has also been aggressively pursued by the supporters of the NO, supported by the media and tabloids campaign in which he was told everything and anything … sign of a political system out of breath …
