En ce beau dimanche après-midi ensoleillé, je prends la direction de la nouvelle salle, Paris La Défense Arena pour un spectacle indoor, le Supercross Paris 2018. Depuis le temps que je voulais y aller, cette année, je franchis le pas.;-) L’excitation est donc à son comble.

Pour cette 36ème édition, le duel tant attendu entre Jason Anderson, l’américain Champion du Monde en titre, et son dauphin, le français Marvin Musquin, notre King of Paris en titre, n’aura pas lieu, faute à une blessure au genou gauche de ce dernier. Mais je ne m’inquiète pas, le spectacle sera au rendez-vous. La qualité du plateau est exceptionnelle, avec notamment la team USA , qui est venue en nombre pour venger l’affront des Nations. Jason Anderson étrenne son titre, il veut devenir le King of Paris.

 

 

Je suis arrivé 40 minutes avant le début du show pour éviter l’affluence. Je découvre le circuit, c’est beau. Il y a un « camel jump » (la bosse d’appel est plus petite que la bosse de réception) et les « whoops » caractéristiques du Supercross, ligne droite composée d’une série de petites bosses. Je note aussi la présence de quatre rampes, ce sera pour le Freestyle FMX.

Le Supercross, ce n’est pas simplement des courses, c’est avant tout un spectacle. Un show laser lance les festivités. Les courses alternent avec des animations. Je me suis régalé avec les trois sessions de Freestyle FMX. Des sauts et des figures impressionnants. Il faut souligner la performance technique, sportive et artistique de ces funambules. Le danger est omniprésent et rien que pour ça, je leur tire ma révérence. Les quatre rampes ont permis des évolutions en parallèle. C’est magnifique. Je suis bluffé ! J’entends à un moment un bruit de réacteur. Qu’est-ce ? Une fusée va décoller ? Non c’est le marseillais Franky Zapatta, l’inventeur de génie, le seul homme volant au monde. Il virevolte dans les airs, waouh ! C’est impressionnant et assourdissant, ça c’est du show !

 

 

Pour la compétition, c’est sans appel. Sur le week-end, les américains ont pris nettement l’avantage. Jason Anderson a remporté haut la main le titre de King of Paris. Le classement par équipe est aussi à leur avantage. Les Français n’ont pas démérité, mais ils ont souffert de l’absence de leur leader Marvin. Les courses sont intenses. Dix / quinze minutes par course, pendant lesquelles les pilotes enchaînent les tours avec une telle intensité, qu’on se demande comment ils font pour contenir leur monture bodybuildée.
Un challenge kids mini-bikes est également organisé. Les champions commencent souvent jeunes, voilà la relève.Une dizaine d’enfants sortent d’une camionnette avec leur moto. Comment font-ils pour tenir tous dedans ?

L’ambiance est familiale, on croise beaucoup d’enfants. Des passionnés aussi. Le bruit des motos est supportable : c’est un son grave, les moteurs des motos contrairement aux compétitions piste ne montent pas aussi haut dans les tours. Les gaz d’échappement piquent légèrement les narines.
Si vous avez la chance d’accéder au paddock, vous pourrez discuter avec certains pilotes et faire des selfies. Vous croiserez quelques « people » aussi. Ci-dessous l’acteur français Guillaume Canet.

Le Supercross Paris, c’est « 100% Courses, 100% Freestyle, 200% Show » ! J’espère vous y voir en 2019. 🙂

On this beautiful Sunday afternoon sunny, I take the direction of the new room, Paris La Défense Arena for an indoor show, the Supercross Paris 2018. Since the time I wanted to go, this year, I take the plunge .; -) The excitement is at its height.

For this 36th edition, the long awaited duel between Jason Anderson, the American World Champion title, and his runner-up, the French Marvin Musquin, our King of Paris in title, will not take place, due to a knee injury left of the latter. But I do not worry, the show will be at the rendezvous. The quality of the set is exceptional, especially with the USA team, which came in numbers to avenge the affront of the Nations. Jason Anderson announces his title, he wants to become the King of Paris.

I arrived 40 minutes before the start of the show to avoid the crowds. I discover the circuit, it’s beautiful. There is a « camel jump » (the call hump is smaller than the receiving hump) and the « whoops » characteristic of the Supercross, a straight line consisting of a series of small bumps. I also note the presence of four ramps, it will be for the Freestyle FMX.

The Supercross is not just racing, it’s a show. A laser show launches the festivities. The races alternate with animations. I enjoyed the three sessions of Freestyle FMX. Jumping and impressive figures. It is necessary to underline the technical, sporting and artistic performance of these tightrope walkers. The danger is omnipresent and just for that, I draw my bow. The four ramps enabled parallel evolutions. That’s wonderful. I am amazed ! I hear at one point a reactor noise. Who is it ? A rocket will take off? No it’s the Marseille Franky Zapatta, the inventor of genius, the only flying man in the world. He twirls in the air, wow! It’s impressive and deafening, it’s show !

For the competition, it’s without appeal. Over the weekend, the Americans have taken a clear advantage. Jason Anderson won the title of King of Paris. The team ranking is also to their advantage. The French did not deserve, but they suffered from the absence of their leader Marvin. The races are intense. Ten / fifteen minutes per race, during which the drivers chained the towers with such intensity, one wonders how they do to contain their bodybuildée mount.
A kids mini-bike challenge is also organized. Champions often start young, here’s the next generation. A dozen children come out of a van with their motorbike. How do they hold all of them?

The atmosphere is family, we cross a lot of children. Passionate people too. The sound of motorcycles is bearable: it’s a serious sound, motorcycles engines unlike track competitions do not rise as high in the towers. The exhaust fumes slightly nostrils.
If you have the chance to access the paddock, you can chat with some drivers and make selfies. You will come across some « people » too. Below the French actor Guillaume Canet.
