La Nièvre – Le Morvan

Après un week-end dans le Nord, direction la Bourgogne. On prendra les petites routes, on n’est pas pressé, on roule en voiture de collection. Apprécions les paysages 🙂

On a beau être un samedi de départ en vacances, en plein mois de juillet, il n’y a pas l’ombre d’un bouchon. Après avoir emprunté la D605 puis la D606, Monterau-Fault-Yonne, Pont-sur-Yonne, défilent sous nos yeux. Malgré une certaine attente dûe aux travaux sur le pont, la route est agréable avec notamment la traversée de Sens, ville où il y ferait bon de s’y arrêter. Pour notre part, on s’arrêtera à Clamecy (après avoir pris la N151 à Auxerre) pour la pause déjeuner.
Clamecy est un joli village médiéval. A l’ombre des ruelles, vous y découvrirez ses maisons à pans de bois, ses enseignes en fer forgé,…et la tour de la collégiale Saint-Martin.

De Clamecy, on rejoindra en une petite heure le village de Moussy, où nous avons fait une halte pour visiter un bien. Oui, on cherche une maison de campagne ! C’est l’objectif du week-end, faire quelques visites et découvrir la région : joindre l’utile à l’agréable 😉

De Moussy, on ira ensuite à Mont-et Marré, pour une seconde visite. L’agent immobilier aura une heure de retard. On discutera en l’attendant avec une personne du village qui habite l’ancien presbystère.

A Mont-et-Marré, on récupérera notre chambre chez Monique et Bert, des hollandais de Utrecht. En Bazois est une chambre d’hôtes, spacieuse avec une terrasse ensoleillée et une vue à en couper le souffle sur la campagne nivernaise. Pas loin, vous pourrez vous balader le long du canal du nivernais, à pieds ou en vélo. C’est la bonne adresse Adrienout ! Testée et recommandée. Rapport qualité-prix défiant toute concurrence.

Après s’être raffraîchis avec une boisson offerte par nos hôtes, nous avons été visités Chatillon-en-Bazois. Village agréable avec son écluse mais relativement mort (une conséquence du Covid ?). On commence à avoir faim. Où trouver un restaurant ? On demande à un habitant, rien d’ouvert dans le village mais un restaurant gastronomique à Alluy, la Grangée. Estimant ne pas être assez sapé pour y rentrer, je passe un coup de fil au restaurant Le Béroalde à Mont-et-Marré pour savoir si on peut y dîner. C’est OK, ouf ! Une belle découverte, un restaurant chaleureux avec une cuisine simple mais goûteuse (mention spéciale pour le riz à l’estragon), qui plus est, situé à 5 minutes à pieds de notre chambre d’hôtes.

Après un bon petit-déjeuner en terrasse, on partira sur Château-Chinon situé dans le parc du Morvan. Ce dimanche sera réservé au tourisme exclusivement. Château-Chinon est bâtie sur le flanc d’une colline ce qui permet d’avoir de beaux panoramas. François Mitterrand, président de la République , en a été le maire. C’est un village avec quelques vestiges du moyen-âge notamment où il y fait bon s’y balader. Pour le point de vue, ne pas oublier de faire le Calvaire avec ses trois croix, ça monte un peu, mais c’est tout à fait gérable. 🙂

Direction ensuite le Lac de Pannecière, un lac artificiel de 520 hectares assez préservé, propice à un tourisme vert. Un endroit paisible pour pique-niquer ou se poser au calme. La route qui longe le lac, est pittoresque et étroite :-). Attention , prudence !

Après une pause fraîcheur à Ouroux-en-Morvan, village médiéval agréable, nous voilà remonter en voiture.

Si vous cherchez un endroit plus touristique, il faudra vous rendre au Lac des Settons, où là, c’est plus un tourisme de masse, et encore tout est relatif. Le Morvan, c’est pas la Côte d’Azur ! 🙂 Au Lac des Settons, balade en bâteau, tour en pédalo, baignade,… bref, de quoi passer une super journée.
Le Morvan, c’est la Nature et plein d’activités en plein air : cheval, trail, vtt, baignade, randonnée,…

Toute bonne chose ayant une fin, il est temps de regagner nos pénates. On passera par Avallon, situé dans l’Yonne. Là encore une belle découverte. Je vous invite à faire comme nous : déambulez dans le centre ville historique, flânez dans quelques galeries, et dînez à Crep’80 avec une galette top 50 ! Avec ce restaurant trop cool, vous ferez un bond dans les années 80. Rien que le cadre vaut le détour de s’y poser. Mais croyez-moi, les galettes sont aussi extra (mention spéciale à La Besoin de rien, envie de toi »lol)

En conclusion, la Nièvre avec ses villages médiévaux, son Parc naturel du Morvan, forment un territoire plein de contrastes, et avec une vraie identité. A vous, la culture, la nature, le calme mais aussi un tas d’activités en plein air.

After a weekend in the North, head to Burgundy. We will take the small roads, we are in no hurry, we drive in a vintage car. Appreciate the landscapes 🙂

It may be a Saturday of departure for vacation, in the middle of July, there is not a shadow of a traffic jam. After having taken the D605 then the D606, Monterau-Fault-Yonne, Pont-sur-Yonne, pass before our eyes. Despite some waiting due to the work on the bridge, the road is pleasant, especially crossing Sens, a town where it would be good to stop there. For our part, we will stop at Clamecy (after taking the N151 at Auxerre) for the lunch break.
Clamecy is a pretty medieval village. In the shade of the alleys, you will discover its half-timbered houses, its wrought iron signs, … and the tower of the Saint-Martin collegiate church.

From Clamecy, we will reach the village of Moussy in an hour, where we stopped to visit a property. Yes, we are looking for a country house! This is the objective of the weekend, to make a few visits and discover the region: combine the useful with the pleasant 😉

From Moussy, we will then go to Mont-et Marré, for a second visit. The real estate agent will be an hour late. We will discuss while waiting with a person from the village who lives in the old presbystery.

In Mont-et-Marré, we will collect our room from Monique and Bert, Dutch from Utrecht. En Bazois is a spacious guest room with a sunny terrace and a breathtaking view of the Nivernais countryside. Not far away, you can stroll along the Nivernais canal, on foot or by bike. This is the right address, Adrienout! Tested and recommended. Value for money unbeatable.

After being refreshed with a drink offered by our hosts, we were visited Chatillon-en-Bazois. Pleasant village with its lock but relatively dead (a consequence of the Covid?). We’re starting to get hungry. Where can I find a restaurant? We ask a resident, nothing open in the village but a gourmet restaurant in Alluy, la Grangée. Believing that I wasn’t undermined enough to go there, I made a phone call to the restaurant Le Béroalde in Mont-et-Marré to find out if we could dine there. It’s OK, phew! A great discovery, a warm restaurant with simple but tasty cuisine (special mention for the tarragon rice), which is moreover, located 5 minutes walk from our bed and breakfast.

After a good breakfast on the terrace, we will head to Château-Chinon located in the Morvan park. This Sunday will be reserved for tourism exclusively. Château-Chinon is built on the side of a hill which allows you to have beautiful panoramas. François Mitterrand, President of the Republic, was the mayor. It is a village with some vestiges of the Middle Ages in particular where it is good to walk there. For the point of view, do not forget to do Calvary with its three crosses, it goes up a little, but it is quite manageable. 🙂

Then head to Lac de Pannecière, an artificial lake of 520 hectares that is fairly well preserved, conducive to green tourism. A peaceful place to picnic or to rest in peace. The road along the lake is picturesque and narrow :-). Attention, caution!

After a cool break in Ouroux-en-Morvan, a pleasant medieval village, we are back in the car.

If you are looking for a more touristic place, you will have to go to Lac des Settons, where there is more mass tourism, and still everything is relative. The Morvan is not the Côte d’Azur! 🙂 At Lac des Settons, boat trip, pedal boat ride, swimming, … in short, enough to spend a great day.
The Morvan is Nature and plenty of outdoor activities: horseback, trail running, mountain biking, swimming, hiking, …

All good things having an end, it is time to return to our homes. We will go through Avallon, located in Yonne. Here again a great discovery. I invite you to do as we did: stroll through the historic city center, stroll through some galleries, and dine at Crep’80 with a top 50 galette! With this restaurant too cool, you will jump into the 80s. The setting alone is worth the detour to land there. But believe me, the pancakes are also extra (special mention to La Besoin de rien, envy of you « lol)

In conclusion, the Nièvre with its medieval villages, its Morvan Natural Park, form a territory full of contrasts, and with a real identity. Culture, nature and calm are yours, but also a lot of outdoor activities.
