31 000 Festivaliers en 2018 contre 39 000 Festivaliers en 2019.

Avec une hausse de la fréquentation de presque 30 % par rapport à 2018, 2019 est une excellente année pour Rock in Évreux by GHF.
Malgré la canicule, le public a répondu présent. Les artistes ont assuré leur prestation avec générosité. Les bénévoles sont restés motivés. Les équipes techniques et le matériel ont tenu le choc !

 

Grâce aux organisateurs, le festival a pu se tenir dans de bonnes conditions. Des améliorations ont ainsi été apportées avec notamment la création du Village. Le festival monte en puissance et s’inscrit de fait dans la durée.

Rendez-vous les 26, 27 et 28 juin prochains :-).

With attendance increasing by almost 30% compared to 2018, 2019 is an excellent year for Rock in Évreux by GHF.

Despite the heat wave, the public responded present. The artists provided their service generously. The volunteers remained motivated. The technical teams and the equipment held the shock !

Thanks to the organizers, the festival was able to be held in good conditions. Improvements have been made with the creation of the Village. The festival is growing in strength and is in fact in the long run.

See you on June 26th, 27th and 28th :-).

 

 

Adrienout à Rock in Évreux by GHF 2019

Après mon premier Rock in Évreux ( Rock in Évreux 2018 ), me voici prêt à affronter la canicule pour rejoindre l’édition 2019, qui s’annonce, au vu de sa programmation, prometteuse. 🙂

Pour sa troisième édition sous sa nouvelle monture, le festival accueille toujours les visiteurs sur 3 jours. Je n’ai pas assisté à la première journée du vendredi, mais selon la presse locale,  c’était la foule des grands jours pour saluer le retour, sur « leurs terres », de SHAKA PONK (deux de ses membres sont ébroïciens, personnes originaires d’Évreux ). Comme à chaque fois,  ils se sont donnés à fond. Les festivaliers ont ensuite pu danser jusqu’au bout de la nuit sur les sons électro de PURPLE DISCO MACHINE et BOB SINCLAR.

Pour moi et ma partenaire Lili, le festival commence samedi après-midi, sous une chaleur torride. Casquette, lunettes de soleil, crème solaire, petites bouteilles d’eau, ne seront pas de trop ;-).

Nous récupérons les badges et les bracelets à l’accueil presse. Cette année, l’espace presse est au cœur de l’espace partenaires / VIP, à l’arrière plan en face des deux scènes. C’est bien vu, on se sent moins seuls, nous les journalistes :-). On a en outre un accès direct à la fosse. Les structures amovibles en hauteur de l’année dernière ont été remplacées par des tentes, ce qui donne plus de convivialité et de prestige à l’espace. Ce nouvel aménagement est réussi, l’organisation marque un point.

 

Ceux ne sont pas les seules nouveautés puisqu’une aire de jeux (les – 12 ans sont invités au festival) a été aménagée pour les enfants, avec des structures gonflables. De plus,  un nouvel espace village assure une information / prévention auprès des jeunes. Différentes entreprises (assurance, organismes de formation,…) tiennent des stands. Nous y récupérons d’ailleurs gratuitement des bouchons d’oreille. Des boutiques de merchandising sont aussi présentes.  Mention spéciale pour l’espace valorisation / tri sélectif des déchets, où pour obtenir un cadeau, vous devez mettre un déchet dans la bonne poubelle. Initiative sympa et pédagogique.

Le camping pour les festivaliers est situé derrière la zone village et espace partenaires.

Cette année, le festival passe au paiement dématérialisé. Deux solutions :
– créditer un compte CashRock en ligne associé à une carte qui vous sera remise sur le site du festival. Possibilité aussi de prendre la carte directement sur le festival et de la charger en espèces ou en CB. Pour ma part, c’est l’option que j’ai retenue.
– télécharger l’application Lyf Pay et payer directement avec votre mobile.
Ceci a permis une plus grande fluidité au niveau de l’encaissement. En revanche, il a souvent fallu s’armer de patience pour se sustenter aux différents stands de restauration. Pour les boissons, contrairement à l’année dernière où il n’y avait qu’une seule bière proposée, les festivaliers ont eu le choix entre différents types de bières, et même du vin. Encore un bon point pour l’organisation.

Canicule oblige, de nombreux points d’eau ont été mis à disposition, ainsi que des brumisateurs géants, notamment au niveau des deux scènes sur le côté. Pour trouver de l’ombre, les places sont « chères ». On en trouve néanmoins au niveau des régies.
A mon sens, le festival a franchi un cap au niveau de l’organisation, certains points ayant été revus et améliorés par rapport à l’édition précédente.

Passons à la musique maintenant !
3 jours, 7 artistes / groupes par jour, c’est la formule proposée cette année. Au programme, du Rock, du Rap, de la Pop, du Reggae, du Hip Hop et de l’Électro en soirée.

Ce samedi, le public arrive petit à petit. CIZUM ouvre les hostilités avec un son rock-pop-funk. Juliette, la chanteuse, qui a grandi à Evreux, lance un « Pensez à vous hydrater un peu , et pas que de la bière ! », la bonne humeur est là. Je découvre des textes très personnels sur une musique dansante. Un festival se doit de mettre en avant des artistes de la région, et là c’est une belle découverte. La chaleur écrasante fait que le public est néanmoins clairsemé.

 

DIVA FAUNE prend la suite. Le groupe propose une Pop originale très rythmée. Ils la définissent comme de  l’indie-folk influencée par de la pop et de l’électro. DIVA FAUNE sort progressivement le public de sa léthargie caniculaire. Il fait encore chaud et je vais au brumisateur me rafraîchir avant d’aller sur la Grande  Scène écouter BOULEVARD DES AIRS. Les Tarbais mettent l’ambiance en ce début de soirée. Leur signature : des mélodies entraînantes, des textes poignants et une touche moderne électro.

Puis place au Rock de RAZORLIGHT, un groupe que suit Lili. Elle les a vus lors de leur dernier passage au Bataclan à Paris. De retour sur scène, après des années d’absence, le groupe enchantera le public en terminant son tour de chant avec son tube « America ». Du Rock avec une touche de Pop, je dis oui !

La chaleur s’est enfin estompée. Je me ravitaille avec un bon Fajitas au poulet, accompagné d’une bière bien fraîche. Me voici prêt pour la soirée électro, que tous les jeunes et aussi moins jeunes attendent ! THE AVENER lance le bal. Je le connais bien, je l’avais vu l’année dernière à Longchamp sur Paris. Son set est efficace et le public se réveille enfin. A noter, une séquence avec son guitariste particulièrement bien vue. C’est une tendance de l’électro actuel, convier des musiciens sur scène pour apporter une touche « live » authentique. Il jouera aussi son nouveau single « Beautiful » que j’adore.

 

Le nîmois LEMARQUIS enchaîne ensuite avec un set plus techno. On aime, ou pas. Le public présent répond timidement.

 

Pour finir la journée en beauté,  OFENBACH. Un set bien pensé avec du Depeche Mode, Daft Punk, … sans oublier leur tube « Katchi ». Des effets visuels psychédéliques. Le public est en transe. Il est bientôt 2h30. Il va être temps d’aller se coucher.

Dimanche, en voulant rejoindre le centre ville, nous découvrons par hasard le marché de la Madeleine : un marché populaire assez grand où l’on peut faire quelques bonnes affaires aussi bien pour les vêtements que pour les fruits et légumes.
Nous déjeunons ensuite au centre d’Evreux, à la terrasse du London Pub. J’ai l’impression que la ville est un peu plus animée que l’année dernière, où nous n’avions pas trouvé de quoi nous restaurer. Le centre-ville reste toutefois calme. S’y balader est agréable. De nouveaux aménagements sont en outre prévus.

Retour au festival. On arrive sur le coup des 16 heures. J’ai l’impression qu’il y a beaucoup plus de monde. Est-ce la chaleur moins oppressante qui a fait venir la foule des Grands Jours ou bien BIGFLO & OLI ? 😉 Le public est plus familial, de nombreux enfants sont présents.

 

WOOD PEAKS, deux ébroïciens, nous offre une entrée en matière bien sympathique. De la Pop / Folk simple mais efficace. Un petit coup de cœur pour ce  groupe qui, je l’espère, arrivera à percer ;-).

 

Puis, un peu d’insolence avec SHELMI et ses paroles bien tranchantes. Un trio qui se définit comme un groupe Pop aux influences Hip-Hop et Rap. Grâce à leur humour, une bonne ambiance s’installe au sein du public.

MNNQNS enchaînera avec son Rock enragé, c’est proche du Hard Rock Metal. Une partie du public se déchaîne, on en prend plein les oreilles. C’est bon, j’ai mes protections auditives !

 

Du Folk ensuite avec TROIS CAFES GOURMANDS. C’est festif, leur énergie est transmise aux festivaliers. De gros ballons circulent au dessus du public. Ils entonneront leur titre phare  » À nos souvenirs », véritable hymne à la vie.

 

Sur la Grande scène, le décor est planté depuis déjà un petit moment. Un panneau « Toulouse »,  une porte avec l’incription « La vie de rêve », un corner avec des canettes et des sandwichs, … Le public attend, avec impatience et une certaine fébrilité, BIGFLO & OLI. Une vidéo est lancée … A l’écran, Drucker, Jamel, Deschamps, Will Smith, … les encouragent pour leur concert et leur prodiguent des conseils. Le public vole en éclats de rire. Au bout de 7 minutes, Bigflo entre enfin sur scène et là, c’est le délire, l’extase. Son frère Oli le rejoindra assez rapidement. C’est une véritable communion avec le public : ça vanne, ça chambre, ça fait chanter, … Le public est survolté, enfants comme adultes. Un hommage sera rendu à leur DJ qui est d’Evreux. Quelle ambiance ! Beaucoup sont venus spécialement ce dimanche pour les voir.

La jeune HOSHI leur succèdera. Sa voie rauque et éraillée en fait sa singularité. Cette passionnée de culture japonaise (Hoshi signifie « étoile » en japonais) distille des chansons à texte.

 

Pour clore le festival, il est maintenant 23h15, place à KUNGS. Un public chaud se dandine sur ses mixes endiablés. C’est du tout bon, de la bonne électro. Il y a encore beaucoup de monde et je savoure cette ambiance. Pour éviter le rush de la sortie, je pars vers minuit rejoindre ma voiture, 1h30 de route m’attende pour rejoindre la région parisienne. Je suis lessivé mais comme dirait certain, c’est de la bonne fatigue.

Les organisateurs ont donné rendez-vous au public les 26, 27 et 28 juin prochains. Je le note déjà dans mon agenda. Rock in Évreux by GHF 2019 est encore une bonne « cuvée » : une organisation bien huilée, des nouveautés appréciables, une bonne ambiance et une programmation musicale au top. Vivement 2020 !

After my first Rock in Evreux (Rock in Evreux 2018), I am ready to face the heat wave to join the 2019 edition, which promises, given its programming, promising. 🙂
For its third edition under its new mount, the festival welcomes visitors for 3 days. I did not attend the first day of Friday, but according to the local press, it was the crowd of the big days to greet the return, on « their lands », of SHAKA PONK (two of its members are Ebroïciens, people originating from Evreux). As always, they gave their all. The festival-goers were then able to dance until the end of the night on the electro sounds of PURPLE DISCO MACHINE and BOB SINCLAR.
For me and my partner Lili, the festival starts Saturday afternoon, under a scorching heat. Cap, sunglasses, sunscreen, small bottles of water, will not be too much ;-).

We collect badges and bracelets at the press reception. This year, the press area is at the heart of the partner / VIP area, in the background opposite the two stages. It is well seen, we feel less alone, we journalists :-). There is also direct access to the pit. Removable structures in height last year have been replaced by tents, which gives more usability and prestige to the space. This new development is successful, the organization marks a point.

These are not the only novelties since a playground (under 12 years are invited to the festival) has been arranged for children, with inflatable structures. In addition, a new village area provides information / prevention to young people. Different companies (insurance, training organizations, …) hold stands. We recover there for free ear plugs. Merchandising shops are also present. Special mention for the waste recycling / sorting area, where to get a gift, you have to put a waste in the right bin. Nice and educational initiative.

The camping for festival-goers is located behind the village area and partner area.

This year, the festival goes to dematerialized payment. Two solutions:
– credit an online CashRock account associated with a card that will be given to you on the festival site. Possibility also to take the card directly on the festival and to charge it in cash or in CB. For my part, this is the option I selected.
– download the Lyf Pay app and pay directly with your mobile.
This allowed a greater fluidity in the cashing. On the other hand, it was often necessary to be armed with patience to eat at the various food stands. For drinks, unlike last year when there was only one beer available, festival-goers had the choice between different types of beer, and even wine. Another good point for the organization.

Heat wave, many water points have been made available, as well as giant foggers, including the two scenes on the side. To find shade, the places are « expensive ». Nevertheless, we find them at the level of the régies.
In my opinion, the festival has reached a milestone in the organization, some points have been reviewed and improved compared to the previous edition.
Let’s move on to music now!
3 days, 7 artists / groups a day, this is the formula proposed this year. On the program, Rock, Rap, Pop, Reggae, Hip Hop and Electro in the evening.

This Saturday, the public arrives little by little. CIZUM opens hostilities with a rock-pop-funk sound. Juliette, the singer, who grew up in Evreux, launches a « Think to hydrate you a little, not just beer! », The good mood is there. I discover very personal texts on a dance music. A festival must highlight artists from the region, and this is a great discovery. The overwhelming heat is that the audience is nevertheless sparse.

DIVA FAUNE takes over. The band offers an original Pop very rhythmic. They define it as indie-folk influenced by pop and electro. DIVA FAUNE is gradually leaving the public with its hilarious lethargy. It’s still hot and I go to the mist to cool off before going on the Grande Scène listen BOULEVARD DES AIRS. Tarbes put the atmosphere in the early evening. Their signature: catchy melodies, poignant lyrics and a modern electro touch.

Then place at Rock RAZORLIGHT, a group that follows Lili. She saw them during their last visit to Bataclan in Paris. Back on stage, after years of absence, the group will enchant the public by finishing their tour of song with its hit « America ». Rock with a touch of Pop, I say yes!

The heat has finally faded. I refuel with a good chicken Fajitas, accompanied by a cold beer. Here I am ready for the electro party, that all young people and also young wait! THE AVENER launches the ball. I knew him well, I had seen him last year in Longchamp sur Paris. His set is effective and the audience finally wakes up. To note, a sequence with his guitarist particularly well seen. This is a trend of the current electro, invite musicians on stage to bring a touch « live » authentic. He will also play his new single « Beautiful » that I love.

LEMARQUIS from Nîmes then goes on with a more techno set. We like, or not. The audience present answers shyly.

To end the day in style, OFENBACH. A well thought out set with Depeche Mode, Daft Punk, … without forgetting their hit « Katchi ». Psychedelic visual effects. The public is in a trance. It is soon 2:30. It’s going to be time to go to bed.

Sunday, by wanting to reach the city center, we discover by chance the market of the Madeleine: a rather large popular market where one can make some good deals as well for the clothes as for the fruits and vegetables.
We have lunch then in the center of Evreux, on the terrace of the London Pub. I feel that the city is a little more lively than last year, where we did not find anything to restore. The city center remains calm. Walking around is nice. New developments are planned.

Back to the festival. We arrive at the stroke of 16 hours. I have the impression that there are many more people. Is it the less oppressive heat that brought the crowd of the Grands Jours or BIGFLO & OLI? 😉 The public is more family, many children are present.

WOOD PEAKS, two ebroïciens, offers us an entry in very nice matter. Simple but effective Pop / Folk. A little heart stroke for this group which, I hope, will break through ;-).

Then, a little insolence with SHELMI and his very sharp words. A trio that defines itself as a Pop band with Hip-Hop and Rap influences. Thanks to their humor, a good atmosphere settles in the public.

MNNQNS will follow with his rabid Rock, it’s close to Hard Rock Metal. Part of the public is unleashed, we take full ears. It’s good, I have my hearing protections !

Folk then with TROIS CAFES GOURMANDS. It’s festive, their energy is transmitted to festival-goers. Big balloons circulate above the public. They will sing their flagship title « À notre souvenirs », a true hymn to life.

On the Big Stage, the stage is set for a little while already. A panel « Toulouse », a door with the incription « The dream life », a corner with cans and sandwiches, … The public is waiting impatiently and a certain excitement, BIGFLO & OLI. A video is launched … On screen, Drucker, Jamel, Deschamps, Will Smith, … encourage them for their concert and give them advice. The public is bursting with laughter. After 7 minutes, Bigflo finally comes on stage and there is delirium, ecstasy. His brother Oli will join him soon enough. It’s a real communion with the public: it’s a valve, it’s room, it makes you sing, … The public is over-excited, children and adults alike. A tribute will be paid to their DJ who is from Evreux. What a mood! Many came specially this Sunday to see them.

The young HOSHI will succeed them. His hoarse and hoarse way makes it unique. This passionate of Japanese culture (Hoshi means « star » in Japanese) distills songs to text.

To close the festival, it is now 23:15, place to KUNGS. A hot audience waddles on his furious mixes. It’s all good, good electro. There are still many people and I enjoy this atmosphere. To avoid the rush of the exit, I leave at midnight to join my car, 1h30 of road waiting for me to reach the Paris region. I’m leached but as some would say, it’s good fatigue.

The organizers made an appointment to the public on June 26th, 27th and 28th. I already note it in my diary. Rock in Évreux by GHF 2019 is still a good « cuvée »: a well-oiled organization, appreciable innovations, a good atmosphere and a musical program at the top. Strongly 2020 !

Adrienout à Rock in Evreux by GHF 2018

Le dernier week-end de juin, Adrienout était à ROCK IN EVREUX by GHF pour découvrir ce festival émergent, en l’occurrence sa deuxième édition. J’ai été séduit par la programmation Rock et Electro. Et ayant eu des accréditations presse (merci à l’équipe de l’agence LA MISSION), je me suis donc décidé à y aller, accompagné de ma partenaire Lili.

Le festival a lieu en Normandie, à côté d’Evreux, sur l’hippodrome de Navarre.

De Paris pour s’y rendre, on passe soit par l’Autoroute A13 pour les plus pressés, soit par la Nationale N12 puis N154 via Dreux. Nous sommes partis samedi en fin de matinée par la Nationale (trajet de 1h45). Nous avons déjeuné à Dreux. Le retour s’est fait par l’Autoroute dimanche dans la nuit (trajet plus rapide quand il n’y a pas de bouchons soit 1h30). A noter que l’itinéraire par Dreux n’est pas mentionné sur les sites classiques mais je vous le conseille car la N154 est bien roulante.

Cette année, ROCK IN EVREUX by GHF a lieu sur 3 jours (contre 2 jours l’année dernière). Il se donne ainsi les moyens de ses ambitions, devenir un festival incontournable.

Vendredi, nous n’y étions pas. Mais, d’après le feedback de festivaliers, le public n’a pas été en reste avec notamment NO ONE IS INNOCENT et son rock énervé, et la tête d’affiche électro DJ SNAKE.

Nous arrivons sous le coup des 15 h samedi. Des policiers, que j’ai trouvés particulièrement serviables et des personnes du staff sont là pour vous guider. Vous pouvez vous garer le long de la route ou bien sur le parking de l’hôpital (attention à la file d’attente pour sortir du parking en fin de journée si vous vous garez sur la grande pelouse ; je vous conseille de vous garer plutôt en face de celle-ci. Il y a un parking bitumé mais le nombre de places est limité).

Nous récupérons nos badges et bracelets puis direction l’Espace Presse, juste en face de l’Espace Bénévoles. On peut s’y poser tranquillement, trouver de l’ombre, et disposer d’équipements pour travailler (prises, connexion Wi-Fi, …). Il y a un attroupement autour d’un PC. Ah oui, le match France-Argentine se joue, 1-0 pour la France !  Je ne suis pas venu pour regarder le foot mais pour écouter de la musique, non ? Direction le festival donc 😉 .

Les choses sérieuses vont pouvoir commencer. L’entrée sur le festival est fluide en ce milieu d’après-midi. Après une fouille aux barrières de contrôle, nous voici sur une immense pelouse bien verte, une entrée en matière agréable. Il fait chaud chaud, le soleil tape fort, on regrette qu’il n’y ait pas quelques arbres (on peut toutefois trouver de l’ombre près des régies en face des scènes mais les places sont « chères »). Il y a deux scènes, Prima (la plus grande) et Ossia. Celles-ci sont disposées sur un arc de cercle et les concerts s’enchaîneront d’une scène à l’autre. Je trouve que cet agencement est très pratique, la proximité des deux scènes fait qu’on ne sera pas obligé de parcourir des kilomètres. L’espace du festival est fermé par les restaurants, bars, banques (on paie en Token, 1 Token = 1 Euro), WC (qu’on a trouvé propres, manquerait juste de quoi se laver les mains) et autres services. L’espace VIP se trouve au milieu en face des deux scènes, composées de structures amovibles en hauteur. Assez parler, passons à la musique !

On commence avec le groupe niçois HYPHEN HYPHEN et sa Pop énergique. La chanteuse Samanta Cotta s’attire la sympathie du public en évoquant le match France-Argentine . En fin de concert, elle se fera portée par le public et traversera la fosse pour escalader la régie en face de la scène. Je ne connaissais pas ce groupe mais franchement j’ai bien aimé, un coup de cœur. Le festival est bien lancé ! On enchaîne sur la prestation Pop Soul de HER. Aller à un festival permet de découvrir des artistes. C’est le cas de HER, avec un chanteur à la voix bien particulière, et un univers sonore qui renvoie tout droit aux belles heures de la Soul américaine des années 60.

Sous cette chaleur, il fait soif. Direction le bar pour se rafraîchir avec une bonne bière. Les serveurs sont sympas et plaisantent. Le personnel est vraiment accueillant, ça fait plaisir. Seul bémol pour moi, le choix des boissons alcoolisées. On a de l’Heineken ou de l’Heineken. Ce serait bien de proposer différents types de bières, voire du vin ou des cocktails. Un point positif, la mise à disposition de sirops Guiot. J’ai pu me faire un Demi-citron. 😉 Pour les stands restaurants, on a le choix : frites, Kebab, Pizza, Hot Dog style américain, Camembert chaud et Jambon braisé, il y en a pour tous les goûts. Je me suis régalé avec un hotdog façon Honolulu et une assiette duo de camembert chaud et jambon. Un bon festival, c’est de la bonne musique mais aussi de la bonne bouffe !

Après HER, CATHERINE RINGER nous a emmené en balade avec des titres de son nouveau répertoire et des tubes des Rita Mitsouko. Elle a enchanté le public.

Justement, qui vient à Rock in Evreux ? Un public familial avec des enfants (entrée gratuite pour ces derniers) ; pour les plus petits, il y a une garderie. C’est bon à savoir et une initiative à noter. On rencontre aussi beaucoup de quadra, quinquas, quelques sexa et septua aussi. Et bien-sûr une majorité de jeunes. La programmation électro avec DJ SNAKE, FEDER et MARTIN SOLVEIG y est certainement pour quelque chose.

Les festivaliers ont ensuite pu apprécier la voix d’ASAF AVIDAN. Il est seul sur scène avec ses instruments (guitare, harmonica, …). C’est une ambiance intimiste qu’il revendique ouvertement, faisant une annonce aux festivaliers. On est sous le charme de sa voix singulière. Je suis resté « scotché » dès les premières vocalises.

Après une petite pause glacée, PETER DOHERTY a réveillé le public, si je peux parler ainsi, avec du Rock bien envoyé. Malicieux, il s’est plaint d’un drone vu au loin. J’ai cru à un moment qu’il allait partir en vrille, mais non il a continué après cette intermède coquace. Il a fait du PETER DOHERTY. On se serait cru dans un petit bar lors d’un bœuf improvisé.

A la tombée de la nuit, PLEYMO a fait rugir les guitares. Ce n’est pas trop mon trip mais il en faut pour tous les goûts. Les fins de soirées sont consacrées aux artistes Electro : SYNAPSON et FEDER pour ce samedi soir. J’ai apprécié le groove de SYNAPSON mais je vous avouerai que nous ne sommes pas restés pour FEDER (il passait à 1h du matin), oui j’ai laissé la place aux jeunes lol. Demain, on doit assurer l’interview de THE NOFACE, il faut être en forme.

Nous sommes arrivés à l’hôtel vers une heure du matin. On a séjourné au Be Myhôtel, un hôtel simple, pratique (avec une kitchenette), propre et avec une bonne literie, de quoi passer une bonne nuit après une bonne douche.

Le lendemain matin, nous en avons profité pour nous balader dans le centre d’Evreux. Première impression, c’est très très calme ! Nous avons même dû nous adresser à une autochtone pour trouver un bar ouvert. Nous avons été voir la cathédrale qui vaut le détour. Son architecture gothique et de la Seconde Renaissance est magnifique et à l’intérieur, vous y découvrirez des vitraux d’époque. Je reçois un sms de rappel de Lola de LA MISSION pour l’interview. La pression monte ! Nous n’avons pas eu le temps de les visiter, mais il y a quelques musées à Evreux, gratuits en plus l’été (à faire pourquoi pas lors d’une prochaine escapade). La ville est agréable sinon. Il y fait bon s’y balader. Petit cours d’eau, des fleurs, il y a même un parcours d’arts. On s’est posé au fameux bar pour fignoler les derniers détails de l’interview.

Retour sur le festival vers 15h. Nous passons à l’espace Presse pour voir si tout est OK pour l’interview du groupe à 16h15. Marine et Lola de l’agence La MISSION nous confirment sa tenue. En attendant 16h15, nous passons au festival pour écouter MALO’, un jeune autodidacte franco-australien. Ça s’écoute bien, je ne connaissais pas.

Nous avons réalisé ensuite comme convenu notre interview. Yan le guitariste et Oma Jali la chanteuse nous ont rejoint pour un moment d’échange sous le signe de la bonne humeur et convivialité, ça passe toujours trop vite ces moments . Interview à découvrir prochainement sur mon blog.

Puis retour de nouveau sur le festival, la pelouse est moins verte lol après 2 jours de concerts. On a pu découvrir ce dimanche IGIT (Chanson française) et THE SUNVIZORS (Reggae). A 18h15, THE NOFACE (Rock) « ont envoyé le steak » pour reprendre l’expression de Yan. Ambiance assurée : on a même eu le droit à un Circle Pit. BB BRUNES ont enchaîné avec leur son Pop Rock.

En début de soirée, à 20h30, KYO est monté sur scène. Beaucoup de festivaliers sont venus spécialement pour eux. Le groupe a joué ses tubes en faisant chanter un public ravi.

S’en est suivi le Hip Hop avec DADJU. Je ne suis pas vraiment fan.

MARTIN SOLVEIG a clôturé le festival. Nous sommes restés au deuxième rang pendant une bonne demi-heure pour profiter de l’ambiance survoltée. Le show a été à la hauteur de nos attentes, exceptionnel, avec fumigènes, torches de feu, confettis…sur un fond d’images décalées comme sait si bien le faire le DJ Star Electro, qui a mis en transe tout le public. C’est une belle façon de finir le week-end.

3 mots pour résumer ce festival : Chaleur, Bonne Musique et Convivialité.

ROCK IN EVREUX by GHF est une belle découverte pour Adrienout. J’espère que cette édition a rempli les attentes des organisateurs en termes d’affluence. On suivra avec attention la vie de ce festival.

The last weekend of June, Adrienout was at ROCK IN EVREUX by GHF to discover this emerging festival, in this case its second edition. I was seduced by Rock and Electro programming. And having had press credentials (thanks to the team of the agency LA MISSION), I decided to go there, accompanied by my partner Lili.

The festival takes place in Normandy, near Evreux, on the racecourse of Navarre.

From Paris to get there, we pass either by Highway A13 for the hurry, or by the National N12 then N154 via Dreux. We left Saturday late in the morning by the National (1h45 drive). We had lunch in Dreux. The return was by the highway Sunday in the night (faster route when there is no traffic jam is 1:30). Note that the route by Dreux is not mentioned on the classic sites but I recommend it because the N154 is rolling.

This year, ROCK IN EVREUX by GHF takes place over 3 days (against 2 days last year). It gives itself the means of its ambitions, to become an unavoidable festival.

Friday we were not there. But, according to the feedback of festival-goers, the public has not been left with NO NO IS INNOCENT and its edgy rock, and the headliner electro DJ SNAKE.

We arrive under 15 o’clock on Saturday. Police, which I found particularly helpful and staff are there to guide you. You can park along the road or on the parking lot of the hospital (pay attention to the queue to leave the car park at the end of the day if you park on the large lawn, I advise you to park instead in front of it there is a tarmac parking but the number of places is limited).

We collect our badges and bracelets and then go to the Espace Presse, just in front of the Espace Bénévoles. You can sit quietly, find shade, and have equipment to work (taken, Wi-Fi, …). There is a crowd around a PC. Oh yes, the France-Argentina match is played, 1-0 for France!  I did not come to watch football but to listen to music, right? Direction the festival so ;-).

Serious things will start. The entrance to the festival is fluid in the middle of the afternoon. After a search at the control barriers, here we are on a huge green lawn, a nice entry into matter. It is hot and hot, the sun beats hard, we regret that there are not some trees (we can however find shade near the control room in front of the scenes but the places are « expensive »). There are two scenes, Prima (the biggest) and Ossia. These are arranged on an arc and the concerts will be linked from one scene to another. I think this arrangement is very practical, the proximity of the two scenes that we will not have to travel miles. The festival area is closed by restaurants, bars, banks (we pay in Token, 1 Token = 1 Euro), WC (which we found clean, lacks just enough to wash our hands) and other services. The VIP area is in the middle in front of the two scenes, composed of removable structures in height. Enough talk, let’s move on to music!

We start with the Nice group HYPHEN HYPHEN and its energetic Pop. The singer Samanta Cotta attracts the sympathy of the public by evoking the match France-Argentina . At the end of the concert, she will be carried by the public and will cross the pit to climb the control room in front of the stage. I did not know this group but frankly I liked, a crush. The festival is well launched! We continue on the performance Pop Soul HER. Going to a festival allows you to discover artists. This is the case of HER, with a singer with a very particular voice, and a sound universe that returns straight to the beautiful hours of the American Soul of the 60s.

In this heat, it is thirsty. Head to the bar to cool off with a good beer. The waiters are friendly and pleasant. The staff is really welcoming, it’s nice. Only downside for me, the choice of alcoholic beverages. We have Heineken or Heineken. It would be nice to offer different types of beer, even wine or cocktails. A positive point, the provision of Guiot syrups. I could make myself a half-lemon. 😉 For the restaurant stands, there is a choice: french fries, Kebab, Pizza, Hot Dog style, Hot Camembert and Braised Ham, there is something for everyone. I enjoyed a hotdog way Honolulu and a plate of hot camembert and ham. A good festival is good music but also good food !

After HER, CATHERINE RINGER took us on a ride with songs from her new repertoire and some Rita Mitsouko hits. She delighted the audience.

Exactly, who comes to Rock in Evreux? A family audience with children (free admission for these); for the little ones, there is a daycare. It’s good to know and an initiative to note. We also meet a lot of quadra, quinquas, some sexa and septua too. And of course a majority of young people. Electro programming with DJ SNAKE, FEDER and MARTIN SOLVEIG is certainly for something.

Festivalgoers were then able to enjoy the voice of ASAF AVIDAN. He is alone on stage with his instruments (guitar, harmonica, …). It is an intimate atmosphere that he claims openly, making an announcement to festival-goers. We are under the spell of his singular voice. I remained « stuck » from the first vocalises.

After a quick frozen break, PETER DOHERTY woke up the audience, if I can speak well, with Rock well sent. Mischievous, he complained of a drone seen in the distance. I thought for a moment that he was going to spin, but no he continued after this naughty interlude. He made PETER DOHERTY. It was like being in a small bar during an improvised beef.

At nightfall, PLEYMO roared the guitars. It is not too much my trip but it is necessary for all the tastes. Endings are dedicated to Electro: SYNAPSON and FEDER for this Saturday night. I enjoyed the groove of SYNAPSON but I will admit that we did not stay for FEDER (it was at 1am), yes I left the place to the young lol. Tomorrow, we must ensure the interview of THE NOFACE, you have to be fit.

We arrived at the hotel around 1am. We stayed at the Be Myhotel, a simple, practical (with a kitchenette), clean and with good bedding, enough to have a good night’s sleep after a good shower.

The next morning, we took the opportunity to walk in the center of Evreux. First impression, it is very very calm! We even had to go to an aboriginal to find an open bar. We went to see the cathedral which is worth the detour. Its Gothic architecture and the Second Renaissance is beautiful and inside, you will discover period stained glass windows. I receive a reminder from Lola of THE MISSION for the interview. The pressure is rising! We did not have time to visit them, but there are some museums in Evreux, free in addition to summer (why not on a next getaway). The city is nice otherwise. It is good to walk there. Small stream, flowers, there is even a course of arts. We landed at the famous bar to polish the last details of the interview.

Back to the festival around 15h. We go to the Press area to see if everything is OK for the group interview at 4:15 pm Marine and Lola of the agency MISSION confirm us his outfit. Meanwhile 16:15, we go to the festival to listen to MALO ‘, a young autodidact Franco-Australian. It’s okay, I did not know.

We then realized as agreed our interview. Yan the guitarist and Oma Jali the singer have joined us for a moment of exchange under the sign of good humor and friendliness, it always happens too fast these moments. Interview to discover soon on my blog.

Then back again on the festival, the lawn is less green lol after 2 days of concerts. We discovered this Sunday IGIT (French song) and THE SUNVIZORS (Reggae). At 18:15, THE NOFACE (Rock) « sent the steak » to use Yan’s expression. Ambience assured: we even had the right to a Circle Pit. BB BRUNES have chained with their Pop Rock sound.

In the early evening, at 20:30, KYO went on stage. Many festival goers came specially for them. The band played their songs by singing a delighted audience.

Then came Hip Hop with DADJU. I’m not really a fan.

MARTIN SOLVEIG closed the festival. We stayed in second place for a good half hour to enjoy the atmosphere. The show was up to our expectations, exceptional, with smoke, torches of fire, confetti … on a background of staggered images as is so well done the DJ Star Electro, which put in trance all the public. It’s a nice way to finish the weekend. 
3 words to summarize this festival: Warmth, Good Music and Conviviality.

ROCK IN EVREUX by GHF is a great discovery for Adrienout. I hope this edition has fulfilled the expectations of the organizers in terms of affluence. We will follow with attention the life of this festival.
