Dream Nation est « the » festival électro de la rentrée en France. Pour cette édition 2022, c’est une première pour moi. Le jour J, l’adrénaline est à son plus haut, une fête monstrueuse m’attend !

J’ai déjà assisté à pas mal de festivals, celui-ci constitue une nouvelle expérience. Déjà rien que pour les horaires : les sets commencent en effet à 20h et se terminent à 6h du matin. J’y passerai donc une partie de la nuit. Aller au Dream Nation, c’est un peu comme aller en boite ! Mais on ne sera pas enfermé. On sera en open air sur le tarmac de l’aéroport du Bourget, un site brut et industriel (on aperçoit au loin des avions et autres engins aéronautiques comme la fusée Ariane), pas d’arbres, pas de terres, pas de pelouses, mais un bon macadam, on ne « mangera » pas la poussière (comme dans un festival classique), point appréciable ;-).

L’entrée est « un peu » en goulet d’étranglement (sauf pour les VIP), contrôle oblige, mais une fois passée, un espace qui semble gigantesque s’ouvre à nous. On y trouve 3 scènes et un espace « Chill out » avec des transats, des palettes, et de grandes tables avec bancs (détente, repos, restauration), différents stands bars (bières, boissons énergisantes, hard), food, maquillage, textile, auto-tamponneuses, les WC,… sur les bords. La circulation est fluide et on a de la place pour danser ou se poser tranquillement.

Parlons maintenant du festival en lui-même. A mon arrivée sur les lieux, je suis resté pantois par la première scène, pas par sa dimension relativement modeste mais par sa scénographie avant-gardiste avec son mapping 3D. Les effets sont réussis, comme sur les 2 autres scènes beaucoup plus grandes avec une mention spéciale pour celle du milieu où l’ambiance y sera la plus déchaînée. La line-up présente pas moins de 60 artistes, avec la diversité et l’éclectisme du courant électronique underground. On n’est pas dans le « grand public commercial » mais plutôt dans celui de jeunes connaisseurs avertis.
Le vendredi est dédié à la techno, techno industrial et hard music, avec des artistes comme Sub Zero Project, Vitalic, Angerfist, VII Circle ; le samedi à la trance, bass music, dub et techno hard avec des artistes comme Pendulum, Astrix, Mandragora, Somniac one. J’ai bien aimé Vitalic, la valeur sûre française, efficace et rythmée, Angerfist le DJ néerlandais masqué pour son univers et l’ambiance de feu qu’il a mise, Sub Zero Project et ses reprises/remix de morceaux d’anthologie, et enfin Astrix et son univers psychédélique. J’ai navigué entre les scènes pour entendre voire découvrir le maximum d’artistes.

Le son a été « propre », avec une bonne ambiance, « secure ». Des déguisements lumineux, des créatures et performances aussi bien dans le public que sur scène. Une scénographie lumière au top. Des danses endiablées et énergiques. Bref, les « dreamers » (ou festivaliers) se sont éclatés, tout comme moi !
En résumé, une belle expérience que je renouvellerai certainement l’année prochaine 😉

Dream Nation is « the » back-to-school electro festival in France. For this 2022 edition, this is a first for me. D-Day, the adrenaline is at its highest, a monstrous party awaits me!

I have already attended quite a few festivals, this one is a new experience. Already just for the schedules: the sets indeed start at 8 p.m. and end at 6 a.m. So I will spend part of the night there. Going to Dream Nation is a bit like going clubbing! But we won’t be locked up. We will be in the open air on the tarmac of Le Bourget airport, a raw and industrial site (we can see planes and other aeronautical devices like the Ariane rocket in the distance), no trees, no land, no lawns, but a good macadam, we won’t « eat » the dust (like in a classic festival), not appreciable ;-).

The entrance is « a bit » bottlenecked (except for VIPs), control obliges, but once passed, a space which seems gigantic opens up to us. There are 3 stages and a « Chill out » area with deckchairs, pallets, and large tables with benches (relaxation, rest, catering), various bar stands (beers, energy drinks, hard), food, make-up, textiles , bumper cars, toilets,… on the edges. Traffic is fluid and there is room to dance or rest quietly.

Now let’s talk about the festival itself. When I arrived on the scene, I was stunned by the first stage, not by its relatively modest size but by its avant-garde scenography with its 3D mapping. The effects are successful, as on the 2 other much larger stages with a special mention for the one in the middle where the atmosphere will be the wildest. The line-up presents no less than 60 artists, with the diversity and eclecticism of the underground electronic movement. We are not in the « general commercial public » but rather in that of young informed connoisseurs.
Friday is dedicated to techno, techno industrial and hard music, with artists like Sub Zero Project, Vitalic, Angerfist, VII Circle; on Saturday to trance, bass music, dub and hard techno with artists like Pendulum, Astrix, Mandragora, Somniac one. I really liked Vitalic, the French safe bet, efficient and rhythmic, Angerfist the masked Dutch DJ for his universe and the fiery atmosphere he created, Sub Zero Project and his covers/remixes of anthology pieces, and finally Astrix and its psychedelic universe. I sailed between the scenes to hear or even discover the maximum number of artists.

The sound was « clean », with a good atmosphere, « secure ». Luminous disguises, creatures and performances both in the audience and on stage. A light scenography at the top. Wild and energetic dances.
In short, the « dreamers » (or festival-goers) had a blast, just like me! In summary, a great experience that I will certainly repeat next year 😉
